Geocache Description:

Asbury Cemetery holds a great deal of history, tied directly to the community of Morristown.  During WWII Morristown served as a site for German prisoners of war.   An absolutely fascinating story!   Please take time to visit websites as listed to learn more.   PLEASE be respectful. No night caching.

One example  why we truly enjoy geo-caching.  Always a learning experience for kids of all ages!

Little known historical fact to many, during World War II, Morristown, Indiana served as a site for a German Prisoner of War Camp.  The Morristown Canning Company used workers from the camp in their business operations. Please enter the web sites as provided for full details with images and a complete history.  An absolutely fascinating story.

Additionally:    A lengthy story written by  Nicholas Thomas, 2001, for a Morristown High School   class  project does an exceptional job outlining the history of the Morristown Canning Company.

The Instant Relative Series " is a means to connect stories with names, lives and memories of intriguing people from the past. The IR Series has been created because of our interest in history, genealogy research, people and Geo-caching. Instant relatives are not related directly to our family. BUT … one never knows?  The goal is  to share stories which will entertain, educate and on occasion provide a little humor during the process. If one should find inaccuracies within information as posted, please email and corrections will be made as necessary.
