Ah, you want to visit this house? As with any house visit, you’ll need to fulfil a few formalities and, of course, ask for the directions to the house. Alright, these are the instructions to get there:
Step 1: Find the doorbell.
This house is rather large, so there is quite some distance between the front gate and the actual house. The front gate is located at N 01° 20.303 E 103° 49.035. These coordinates are the published coordinates for the cache, and where you should start your trip to the house.
Near the front gate is the doorbell, which you will need to ring to get into the house. You will find the bell at N 01° 20.316 E 103° 49.030. You will find the container with the bell in a hollow tree stump. Take the doorbell with you to the next step.
I have attached a spoiler picture of the area where the container is hidden at the bottom of the listing.
Step 2: Find the front door
Return to the front gate with the doorbell. At the front gate, you will see a long wooden path leading to the house. Take the wooden path and enjoy the beautiful views that the walk offers. Along the way, look out for the “Wingless High Flyers” and the “Four-legged Snake”, which are the markers for the location of the front door.
The front door of the house is located between these two markers.
Step 3: Find the house
With the doorbell, search for the final cache. The doorbell button has a range of about 50 metres, but you will only hear the chime when you are about 10 metres from the house. So, keep your ears peeled and listen very closely for the chime, which will lead you right to the cache location.
The cache chime is two sets of “ding-dongs”: exactly what you’d expect a doorbell to sound like. Please be patient and wait for about 5 seconds after the end of the chime before pressing the button again.
Step 4: Leave a letter
Once you are in the house, you can log your visit by writing a letter to one of your fellow geocachers. You will find coloured cards, envelopes and a letter stamp (but no pen, sorry) in the house. To log, do the following:
- Write a note to a particular geocacher(s) or to the community in general, and put the note in an envelope. You may use your own stamp to sign off the letter.
- Write the username(s) of the recipient on the envelope and below that, your username and the date and time of your visit.
- Stamp the envelope with the “Posted” stamp in the cache.
- Check for any letters addressed to you in the cache and read them.
- Seal up all the contents of the cache properly, especially the doorbell chimer, which must be doubly sealed with the Ziploc bags.
- Finally, close the container properly! Ensure that nothing is sticking out of the container, and that everything fits in the box perfectly.
Note: If you have nothing to write to anyone, the least you need to do to complete a log is write your name and date of visit on one of the cards and slip it in an envelope.
Step 5: Return the doorbell
On the way out of the house, please return the doorbell to the original location, and doubly seal it up with the Ziploc bags. Ensure that the container is placed in the position that you have found it, and close the box properly.
Thank you for visiting our home! Please adhere to the highlighted instructions carefully, the life and continuity of this cache depends on you!
I hope you will have as much fun visiting this cache as I had designing it. Have a good walk in the forest and happy hunting!
