Pongakawa Bush Road runs inland from Old Coach Road. Although the original surveyed road does not continue right through on the intended route, there remains one connection (Pugh Road) with Maniatutu Road near the end of Bush Road about 14km from Old Coach Road.
The seal does not continue all the way up so expect some gravel. Although a relatively narrow country road, it can be very busy as it provides access to many farms and a popular dirt biking and off roading venue, so as always with country roads, drive with extreme care and pull up well off the road when stopping.
There is a reasonable bit of room to pull off on one side of the road. The seal ends here so gravel heading south now..
