La Nevèra di Bordei
Molti anni fa dalle pareti rocciose del Ghiridone si staccò un’enorme frana.
I grossi massi precipitati a valle formarono degli anfratti naturali all’interno dei quali
circola un’aria particolarmente fredda proveniente dal sottosuolo che, soprattutto
nei mesi estivi , mantiene una temperatura costante attorno ai 4° C.
I nostri antenati utilizzarono queste grotte, opportunamente riempite di neve,
quali dispense naturali per la conservazione di carni e prodotti caseari.
La nevèra rimase in funzione fin verso il 1963 quando grazie all’elettrificazione
venne sostituita dai frigoriferi.
The Nevèra of Bordei
Many centuries ago from the rocky walls of the Mount Ghiridone a huge landslide
came down and big rocks landed in the valley forming natural gorges.
Among them, fresh air coming from the subsoil keeps circulating, and especially during the
Summer months the temperature is constant at about 4° C.
Our ancestors used these caves, suitably filled with snow, as natural larder, to
preserve meat and dairy products.
The Nevèra has been used until 1963, when thanks to the electricity, it was substituted
by refrigerators.
