Baby Poop Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

Beefy&Princess: The area has had trees trimmed & limited the places to hide a cache of this style (which has also rotted away) so I'm just going to take it down. The business loves the idea of having a cache on their property so maybe another cache owner will talk to them & place a new one here.

Geocache Description:

Beefy&Princess bring you their first travel bug hotel!

We had a micro here for a while, but the nearby business will be adding on soon so we had to remove it.  We decided to move further away from the buildings.  Also, because of the number of long-haul truck drivers signing the old log, we decided to make this one big enough to stash some travel bugs in.

We are members here & this is one of our favorite places to come for a date night & a workout all rolled into one.  The people here are super friendly and we've gotten to know a couple of them pretty well.  We've even recently introduced our toddlers to the fun!

Back in the 1990's, Chris & Pam Schmick discovered this old grain elevator complex and imagined how awesome it would be to build a climbing gym inside the silos.  They got to work on a business plan & visited several banks before finding one willing to take a chance on them.  They spent 3 months shoveling out tons of rotten soy beans that smelled & looked like... you guessed it... Baby Poop.  This name became the name of the first climbing route in the silos and is still set as it was back in the 90's.  Three more months were spent cutting holes for doorways & drilling anchors in for holds.  Since then, their story has appeared in dozens of newspapers, magazines, and on several TV shows.  The Discovery Channel & The Travel Channel have both rated this place as the best rock climbing gym in the world.  Now, in addition to this iconic grain elevator gym, they own two more gyms in the St. Louis area.

You don't need to go inside to find this cache and you certainly don't need to buy a climbing pass or rent gear.  They are well aware of its existance, so don't worry about getting spotted or harassed.  They really get a kick out of people searching for it.  If there is construction going on, please stay away from those areas.  It hasn't started yet but I've been told that this location should be safe.  Since we are frequent visitors, we will check on it often to make sure it's in a safe location and in good condition.

Thanks to Nick & Heather for permission to place this cache!

Happy hunting!
