Det Gule Båthuset Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

cervisvenator: Hi

While I feel that Geocaching.com should hold the location for the cache owner and block other cachers from placing a cache in the area around this cache for a reasonable amount of time, we can’t do so forever.

Nothing seems to happen with this cache listing, so it is now archived, so that someone else can place a cache in the area, and geocachers can once again enjoy visiting this location. Also, if it hasn’t been done already, please pick up any remaining cache bits as soon as possible.

Geocaches which have not been maintained or the owner has not responded will not be taken out of the archive

(This reviewer note is in English so non-Norwegian cache owners, geocachers and cache reviewers can understand what it says.)

Thanks for your understanding,

Geocache Description:

Norsk:

English:
The yellow boathouse is a landmark in the Hafrsfjord (pronounced Haffersfjord) which is often photographed and it has even appeared painted on a wall in Paris once.

Norsk:

English:
The bicycle path along the Madla side of the Hafrsfjord from Møllebukta to Liapynten by the municipal boundary between Stavanger and Sola opened around the year 2000. Due to financial reasons the last piece of the cycle path, the stretch located in Sola, was delayed and was not completed until April 2004. The construction of bicycle path caused some of the boathouses between here and Liapynten, which are protected by law, to be moved a bit.

The boathouse was first built around year 1900, but it collapsed during World War II and had to be rebuilt. Here by the boathouse you can find a small and very shallow beach that is well suited for swimming, especially for small children. You can also fish for small crabs here. Otherwise you have a good view over the fjord where you for example can watch a very beautiful sunset. On windy days you often spot many windsurfers around here since they have their base at Liapynten.

Be careful so you don't drop the log or the container in the water or between the rocks. Be also aware that it can be quite windy out here at times. Tread carefully when the rocks are slippery.
