La via ferrata
La via ferrata des Vigneaux est une via du style classique. Randonée dans le milieu vertical, site grandiose, vues sur les Ecrins, beaucoup de contact avec le rocher et une invitation à découvrir les mouvements d'escalade, pas de ponts ni tyroliennes.
Le câble et l'équipement sont en parfait état. Les panneaux d'information et le fléchage datent de très (trop) longtemps, mais pas de soucis ; les sentiers sont évidents et on aura du mal à se tromper.
Il y a deux options. Le départ est commun. A une bifuration on a l'option de :
- rester à gauche : La voie du Colombier : plus court, plus facile, plus de barres et une échelle, cotation usuelle PD
- rester à droite : La voie de la Balme : plus long, plus dur, plus athlétique et gazeux, il faut chercher les prises sur le rocher (ou si l'inspiration manque : tirer sur le câble), cotation D.

La cache
Une "petite" en plastique, cachée près du câble. Regardez le hint et le spoiler.
La cache se trouve sur la voie de la Balme, donc sur le tronçon de droite après la bifurcation.
Il y a des moments avec beaucoup de passage. Donc attention aux moldus et p.ex. masquez vos recherches en stop de photo / snack / boisson.
Sécurité
La cache se trouve en plein milieu de la via ferrata. Il faut donc le materiel adapté : casque, baudrier d'escalade, longe de ferrata avec absorbeur de choc et il faut savoir l'employer correctement. N'hésitez pas d'appeler le support de quelqu'un de compétent. N'hésitez pas à vous encorder si nécessaire (débutants, enfants de moins de 40-50 kg selon les spécifications de la longe).
La pente est orientée plein sud. Donc apportez de l'eau et évitez les heures chaudes.
Préférez la descente par le GR50 (waypoint) et évitez la descente indiquée sur le panneau d'info et sur certains topos.
The via ferrata
The via ferrata of les Vigneaux has a rather classical, traditional style. A kind of vertical walk, in a magnificent site, with good views on the nearby Ecrins National Parc, with lots of contact with the rock inviting to try nice climbing moves. No swinging bridges, no death ride cables.
The cable and the equipment are in perfect condition. The info panel at the start and the indications along the way are quite (too) old but don't worry : the paths are all very clear and you will need a real bad day if you absolutely want to get lost.
There are two options. After a common start the cable splits and one has to chose between :
- take left : La voie du Colombier : shorter, easier, more ironwork and a little ladder, usually rated PD
- take right : La voie de la Balme : longer and harder, more strenous and airy, requires some searching for holds on the rock (or if the inspiration is not there - to pull the cable). Usually rated D.

The cache
A small tupperware, hidden close to the cable. Look at the hint and the spoiler pic.
The cache is hidden on the voie de la Balme, or in other words on the right hand leg after the split between the easier (L) and harder (R) options.
On some days the ferrata is very busy. Take care of muggles and disguise your search as a photo or snack-and-drink stop if needed.
Safety
The cache is in the middle of a via ferrata. Take the right gear : helmet, climbing harness and specific ferrata lanyards with shock adsorber and know how to use it correctly. Look for the support of a competent person when needed. Rope up when needed (novices, children less than 40-50 kg depending on the spécifications of the ferrata lanyards).
The rock face is due south. So take water with you and avoid the hottest hours of the day.
For returning to the parking : take the GR50 (waypoint) and avoid the trail that is indicated on the info panel and in some topos.
