Geocache Description:

This is a quick park and grab.  The cache is a small spice jar with log.  Please bring your own pen, and watch out for muggles.

For being near NYC, it doesn't really feel like the city way out here.  Bellerose was initially part of Floral Park when a woman named Helen Marsh purchased it in 1906.  She intended to build a model community along the LIRR line that now runs thorugh Bellerose Station, and never intended the name Bellerose to remain.  However, by 1917 the local community ratified the name, and the town was incorporated as one of the smallest communities in NY soon after.
