KÖYCEĞİZ - TÜRKİYE A small market town in the south-west corner of Turkey between Marmaris and Dalaman, Köyceğiz sits on the northern shore of a huge, freshwater lake among olive and orange groves, beehives and pomegranate orchards. A quiet Turkish resort. Köyceğiz's greatest assets are its natural beauty and wildlife. These centre around the lake, Köyceğiz Gölü, which flows into the Dalyan River, passing Lycian rock tombs and the ancient Carian city of Caunos along it's course before entering the Mediterranean Sea at Turtle beach. The surrounding area, meanwhile, offers plenty in the way of history and stunning scenery. There are thermal springs at Sultaniye just a boat ride across the lake; mudbaths, and an impressive range of mountains to explore behind the town.
