Sky Pines Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

BevanQ: I came up to check my cache since I knew it was no longer secured the way it was supposed to be. On the way up the trail from Sky Pines Farm I realized there were some posted signs that weren’t here when I placed the cache eight years ago. I originally thought this was all the part of the watershed property but it is not public land. I decided it would be best to relocate the cache so visitors wouldn’t have to worry about passing posted signs. So look for a new hide back over the border!

Geocache Description:

There are lots of pines up here and it's the top of the hill. The area has been known as Sky Pines for as long as I've known about it.

You can follow an old road up here, past old foundations and farm land. Staying on the old road, past a couple of left turns, and going past Sky Pines Farm is the nicest way -- the trail does loop back down to the old road.

You'll be looking for a small brown container placed in a way appropriate for the Sky Pines name.

This is in the Pleasant Valley Reservoir area. It's a short hike from the parking place. You can park at the gate on Gulf Road, off Sunset Lake Road, don't block the gate. Head in and look for the old road (a bit stream bed like, at times) heading westward and up.

Gulf Road is now gated, but I remember when it was a public road. We used to drive in and then go four-wheelin' up to Sky Pines. It's still a good place for a hike or mountain bike ride.
