Geocache Description:

This event is being held to give cachers from both near and far a chance to claim one of the seven souvenirs of August - an event cache!  Much more than this though it is a chance to discover and explore a fabulous wild place, home to all sorts of birds and wildlife, and a cache or two as well.

This is my first event cache and takes place at a place I really love.  With full permission of the RSPB centre manager, Colonel Burnaby and I will present from 14:00 - 15:00 in the visitor centre at Frampton Marsh, near Boston.  The event will start at 14:00, and finish at 15:00.  Please bring a postcard or similar with caching name on to hand to us and register your attendance and feel free to bring TBs to be discovered or swapped.  At the end of the event we will draw one name at random to be awarded the accolade of FTF and update the event log to inform the lucky winner, you don't have to hang around all hour when there are caches to be found!  (Unless you want to of course).  It will be nice to put some names to faces and meet friends old and new :)

There is plenty of free parking to be had, and full facilities including toilets and a place to purchase refreshements.  The centre is open all day from 10:00 - 17:00 and staffed by knowledgeable and enthusiastic RSPB volunteers.  There are lovely walks all around, including through the reserve collecting clues for a multi-cache as you go, and a circular series along the seabank and across the fields, with a variety of hides.

We may even be able to encourage a few new caches to go live for the event!

The reserve is very suitable for children, but no dogs are allowed on the reedbed trail which you will need to follow if you are to find the pre-existing multi.  Access to the seabank is via steps, and there will likely be cows grazing on the bank at this time of year for the bovine-phobic, which forms part of the round series.

Sights to enjoy include thousands of wading birds and wildfowl on the reedbed and fresh water scrapes, listen out for singing skylarks and displaying lapwings. Avocets also nest here, and a glossy ibis and bittern have been seen very recently too.
