Potter's Pool Nine Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

also_cute_and_fluffy: Hi folks,
Due to a number of reasons I'm archiving this route.

We've spent a lot of time and effort setting a child friendly route here, which has been really popular. Unfortunately today, I've visited to maintain the route and I'm so upset about the amount of cache and hide vandalism, that I've removed the remaining caches, bar one, that I'll get my husband to retrieve.

One of the caches has been found floating in the pool, the cache set furthest away from water, and I've found another torn apart, not to mention those missing, half missing and marked with obvious markers by other cachers so they can be found more easily (in this case by muggles) The Rangers are aware of this and are understandably worried about the effects on the wildlife.

I'm sorry if you have already saved this route to your GPS etc, but I'd rather not tarnish geocaching anymore by leaving a route that's going to be abused.

Geocache Description:

A straightforward cache route circling Knypersley Pool. Ideal for most ages, all caches close to paths, with some gentle scrambling. These were laid with a sleeping child on my back. Stocked with child friendly swaps, so lets keep them exciting for kids to open :-) Loads of benches, bring a picnic and watch out for squirrels!

Cache Info
From Eight, continue around the pool, nearly finished. You can take a diversion to Castle View here. GZ is across a little foot bridge, and requires a short scramble. The cache is not poolside. Let me know if you think the co-ords are a bit out, I took a few readings here, but all very bouncy.

The Science Bit...
Knypersley Pool was designed by Thomas Telford and built by James Potter.
I have laid some caches along footpaths we normally walk, so others can enjoy them too. I've tried to use a range of sized caches and containers, and to keep the hide and terrain varied.
This was laid as a circular route, trying to incorporate some of the old caches that were archived here... Numbers 1-10 are in a circle round the main 2 pools, the diversion caches are on surrounding footpaths that can be done as extra or on another visit.

Please take some time to follow the Country Code, and respect the land you are crossing. Please be aware of muggles, livestock, dogs and children. It gets quite busy on a sunny day!

Please, please make sure you pick up after your dog, and make sure it is on a lead when necessary. Please keep it under control, as there are a lot of children and families round here. Most bins take litter and dog waste.

I hope you enjoy our caches. Please let me know if you have any suggestions or concerns. We welcome lots of photos but please avoid spoilers! Good luck!
