This is a place where students in the field of Ferroequinology come to do research. What is Ferroequinology you ask? It is the study of iron horses. Many railfans come here with lawn chairs and snacks just hoping for a view of something out of the ordinary. They watch the signals and wait for the next big train to roll by. Some of them even tune in on scanner radios to listen to the train's engineers.
If you're lucky when you come here, you may see one of Norfolk Southern's Heritage Units. As part of its 30th anniversary celebration in 2012, NS painted 20 new locomotives in the color schemes of predecessor railroads. There is even a website dedicated to the whereabouts of these engines and you can check it out here
This should be a quick cache and dash but please beware of muggles, especially on Saturday nights.
