112 year old bridge, which was replaced with a new $3.8 million concrete structure immediately downstream of the existing bridge, has been removed in line with the recommendations in the Timber Truss Bridge Conservation Strategy.“The strategy outlines the proposed management of Roads and Maritime Services (RMS) timber truss bridges and identifies bridges to be retained to ensure examples of the different types of timber truss bridges are preserved,The original Gundaroo Bridge, a single-span Allan truss bridge, was identified for demolition after the replacement bridge was built and because it had been bypassed, there was no scope to bring it back into service.RMS is now considering community feedback suggesting part of the bridge trusses be used in a display in Gundaroo Park and leftover timber used in building projects in the town centre of Gundaroo. The old gundaroo bridge has been pulled down now and you can drive down and see where it previously was. There is no need to be be on the bridge to find the cache.
