The Jeparit Weir is used to hold back the Wimmera river water in the town, and stop it all running straight past and into Lake Hindmarsh.. Makes things look lovely.. but it wasn't so lovely during the flooding in 2011. The weir was severely damaged during the floods and a channel had to be cut around the weir to release the water and prevent the town from flooding.
