The Real Checkpoint #7 trail marker!
I placed this cache to commemorate my recent 500th geocache find. This large size cache is a treasure trove of the best cache trading swag I've collected. Lots of goodies for both kids & adults to swap items with! Some items are valuable, and some are just kids toys. Please trade items of similar value!!
For those casual hikers / bikers etc. that prefer a slightly less strenuous trail, many choose this shorter loop. However, on the trail map, checkpoint #7 is not accurately marked- the "real" checkpoint #7 is at this location of the trail... which is a frequent cause of navigational confusion. This is also a T intersection, which is also confusing from reading the map. In the normal clockwise trail direction, some make the mistake of continuing straight on the trail (which goes towards the old Burleson Orchard near Markey Rd.) instead of taking the right-fork (going North) in the trail that heads to checkpoint #8 and returns back to the Marl Lake access site.

This is one of my most favorite hiking trails, not only because it's close to home, but also because there are quite a few great geocaches sprinkled throughout the area!
