This is part of a series of caches along one of the most beautiful trails in South Florida. (West Lake South Trail) Each cache is dedicated to one of the animals that lives in this amazing preserve. If you are quiet and have a keen eye you will not only find the caches, but you may see some of the wildlife too!
The wood stork is making a recovery as it was recently taken off the endangered species list. It is now listed as threatened. The wood stork is the only stork that currently breeds in the US. Wood storks live in colonies building many nests in large trees. They mate once a year and typically lay 3-5 eggs. Both parents incubate and feed the babies. Baby wood storks need to eat up to 15 times a day -so only the strong survive. I placed this cache where I saw a wood stork standing on the trail one day.
This cache has a pen and room for small swag. There is a geo-marble for the FTF. Please re-hide it as you found it-well camoflauged. You can park for free at Anne Kolb Nature center and then follow the path to leave the park. The path goes under the bridge and straight to the trail. Trail hours are 8 am- 7:30 pm daylight savings time and 8:00 am- 6:00 pm eastern standard time
