Rewind to the early 90's........two sisters studied in London for a semester each during college. They discovered these fantastic little "ready to eat" grab and go gourmet sandwich shops on every corner, and they fell in love with the concept. The younger sister returned to London in 1995 to live and got a job in one of these shops. When the older sister went and visited her, they both agreed that if they ever ended up in Indy together again, they would open up one of the types of sandwich shops that they both fell in love with in London.
Fastforward to 1997........their dream became a reality when they both ended up back in Indy. They found the perfect space, a law office downtown, and transformed it into this establishment. All of their recipes were their own creations after hours and hours of trying different combinations of ingredients. The key to their success was using simple, fresh, high quality ingredients. All sandwiches were made in the morning and put on refrigerated shelves for grab and go, or in-house lunching.
In 1999, the younger sister decided to move to California, and the older sister decided to start a family. Even though they only owned and operated it for 2 short years, they made their dream come true. They sold the establishment, recipes and all, to the current owner, and very little has changed since then.
The older sister is one of my dearest friends, and we like to enjoy lunch here together when we can. I told her a year ago that I wanted to host a geocaching lunch event here, and I'm finally making that happen. If her day is free, she plans to join us for lunch, as she loves coming back to visit the dream that she made a reality. Her two oldest sons have recently started geocaching as well! We will be here for the event from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., then we will be heading over to Easley Winery to wrap up our time out. Anyone is welcome to join us there as well, but to log the event, you will need to join us at Stars.
