The Lutheran church located across the road is soon to be celebrating their 125th anniversary. This church was founded by the original settlers of the old German settlement area. Hope Congregational Church down the road was formed when a split occurred between members over 100 years ago. Thankfully, old wounds have been healed and the churches often have many functions together throughout each year now.Originally, both churches held their service entirely in German. Now only a few of the oldest members speak in German and the services are, of course, held in English now. Come Christmas time however both churches still love to sing German Christmas carols. It is something wonderful to hear!
