Geocache Description:

A micro geocache hidden in a typical manner toward the northwest corner of Blendon Central cemetery. The geocache is not on or near any headstones. As with all cemetery caches, no night caching. Please respect the site and those who visit it.

This cemetery previously was known as both Old Church Pioneer Cemetery and Central Cemetery. The latter name derives from the fact that the southwest corner of the cemetery lot is the geographical center of Blendon Township. This cemetery dates back to 1829 or 1832 (different sources cite different dates) when land was donated for "burial purposes" by Timothy Lee. The 1829 date would seem to be substantiated by the fact that a church was built on land donated by Lee at that time. (That church burned down a week after it was dedicated.) However, the official cemetery website maintained by Blendon Township itself cites the 1832 date. The southwestern corner of the cemetery is where the oldest headstones are located.

Congratulations to theLadyBee and blandestk for FTF!
