Geocache Description:

The North Bend school was presumably named for the large arc in the nearby Maquoketa River. There is a very active local group which has done a lot to preserve the history of this old one room school. They requested that a geocache be placed on their grounds, so here you go. Since my Aunt Wilma, who recently passed away at the age of almost 97, was a teacher (I should say THE teacher) at North Bend about 75 years ago, I thought it appropriate that I do this in her honor.

This is a two part multicache beginning and ending on the school grounds. Part one is magnetic (which you would have quickly figured out anyway). Part two is for you to figure out by yourself. It contains a pencil, a logbook, a trackable pathtag and a little folding money for the FTF.

Be sure to read the bulletin board info to see what was required of a teacher in those days and before. Wilma's stint here was short, since she had to make the decision to teach or get married (doing both was a no-no). After her experience here, she never had children of her own. What does that say about the North Bend kids?
