Need a break from our seemingly endless water caches on this fine waterway. You know the drill by now-How about a small tree climb to stretch your legs-nothing major, just about 10 feet-we don't want to see anyone get hurt. The cache is a traditional micro located on a popular stretch of beautiful Oak Orchard Creek between Medina and Waterport. You will need a floatation device and maybe some creativity to access this stretch of caches thus the 4.5 ratings. We placed a bunch more today for the upcoming event. This local series is placed on a navigable waterway and is best accessed by using two vehicles, strategically placed and kayaks. At times, water levels can be quite high and water fast moving-use common sense. When the Erie Canal is draining, water levels will be at least a foot higher than normal. When the cache was placed, it had rained a bit the day before and water was moving swiftly in many sections. Creek depth probably averages only 2-3 feet but can be much deeper in spots. Coords were taken using a Garmin GPSmap60CSX and averaged. This stretch of caches may require you to leave your kayak at times or use some other device to reach them. We just wanted to introduce you to this beautiful and popular waterway. Those who choose to bring only one vehicle will experience a potentially hard and long upstream return trip or a long walk back to your vehicle.
