Nostalgia Lake Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

bnelson333: As much as this area means to me, nostalgia-wise, this just isn't a great spot for a cache. Parking is tricky and the bounce is terrible. Not to mention that it's so far away for me to keep running back out here. I'm gonna let this one go. Thanks for visiting!

Geocache Description:

Paying homage to one of my old stomping grounds, BYOP.

I (Brian) grew up in Hugo, MN. When I was about 12 my grandpa gave me his old fishing boat. It wasn't much, about a 10 footer aluminum boat, but to a kid, man that was the world. My step dad brought us out to this little lake quite often called Plaisted Lake, which is just a couple hundred feed East of GZ on this cache. We never caught many fish, but I remember gathering a lot of turtles.

When I started geocaching, this was one of the first places I thought of. But the first pass through yielded many private property signs, I sighed, it was not going to happen. But on a whim, I decided to check GIS data and found a small strip of public land right by the lake, woohoo! Please be aware of this situation and be respectful to the neighbors. You do not have to go into the woods on this one (through the green gate). I would also be careful about parking, the road drops off pretty quickly at GZ, don't think you can park in the grass here or else you'll land in the pond next to the lake. For this reason, I didn't make it too difficult of a hide. If you follow the geo-trail and use a little geo-sense, you should find it pretty quickly.
