The first finder of this cache will have the option to take a very special stone....a Fairy Stone. Fairy Stones are extremely rare rocks composed of two six-sided crystals that have gelled together in various types of cross shapes. They occur in very few places on the earth and this one comes from our recent expedition to the isolated Fairy Stone State Park in the west tip of Virginia. They have been carried by Christians and others as good luck charms since their discovery, some notables being Thomas Edison, Woodrow Wilson and Queen Victoria. The story goes that an elfin messenger carried the news of the crucifixion of Jesus Christ to the thousands of faeries that inhabited the narrow finger valley in Virginia, where the stones are to be found, and as they wept their tears turned in to crosses. Finding a perfect cross, rather than a slightly offset one is rare, but both Pinecone and Dr. Takamatsu found perfect ones on our hunt as shown in the cache background picture. 4G and Mr. Crunchy had been there twice before, before geocaching took over our lives, and never had such luck. Check earth cache GC159VA, Nature's Holy Crosses to learn more and good luck.
Congrats to Hound man for the FTF!!!
