This is just one of the many events to be held across the UK, Ireland and Channel Islands as part of the GAGB Annual CITO weekend - which this year is concentrating on the conservation aspects of CITO. Come and join us on Saturday 13th September 2014 - 10am to 2 pm. Parking is at the co-ordinates - see me for a free parking permit as charge is normally £2.50.
The Head Ranger will talk through the Health and Safety requirements and then take us for a short walk explaining what we will be doing and the reasoning behind the need for conservation of the parks habitats and biodiversity while preserving the park's natural environment. Initially we will be clearing the meadow, cutting back foliage and undergrowth to allow the habitats to develop. The Ranger likes to work with groups of 8 volunteers so other activities may be organised according to number of event attendees - this may include 'Bashing the Brambles' and other invasive species, river clearing, etc. Please wear sensible footwear. Dogs are welcome as long as they are kept under control and any mess is picked up. There are toilets, a play area and a cafe on site and we have the use of a room to eat our lunch should the weather be against us so bring your picnic lunches.
