Geocache Description:

my standard blue top peanut-butter jar

Note..  the fenced-in area is the collapsed area of the #1 shaft.  Maps show that the #1 was close to the #2 and with the pipe and old car (often used to cap mines) this is  the #1.  A  side collapse of the #1

Located at the hoist of the Centennial #2.

The Schoolcraft Mining Co, Organized in 1863 and worked small scale before going bankrupt in 1873.  In 1876, the Centennial Mining Co took over till 1923 when C&H took over, till closing in 1931.

In 1944, The #2 shaft was reopened. (likely due to the war needs). The hoisthouse had been demolished to scrap the metal, as seen that the building is broken down except for the back wall. The building was reworked using the back wall for a main, and using concrete block for the rest of the building (and electric not steam) for the hoist. the mine ran till 1966, when it closed for good
