Geocache Description:

In honor of my father's B-day, I left several caches around the local area in his honor (he grew up here). This one is in memory of his 1980's Honda Silverwing (not even sure of the exact year), which he bought and we had growing up for most of my childhood. I remember lots of fun rides on this highway bike, especially one really cold ride down I-15 in October, as well as another ride home when we had recently moved to El Paso, TX from Utah.

That particular ride was especially memorable because we had always had a fresh cut Christmas tree, but there aren't any trees really to cut down there, and we couldn't afford to buy one. Then, while driving along, I somewhat jokingly suggested that we might use one of several giant tumbleweeds we had passed as a "tree" by taking it home and decorating it. My dad thought it was a great idea, so he had me, Atlas-like, hold this 6 foot tall tumbleweed while he and I drove home on the Silverwing together. Boy, we must have been a funny sight. All I really remember is how painful the sharp barbs in the tumbleweed were that were poking through my gloves into my hands, and how relieved I was to set the darn thing down once we got back home. However, that tumbleweed didn't make a half-bad christmas tree. I know we have pictures of it somewhere, but I don't have any.

Above: someone else's "christmas tumbleweed", which resembles the one we had.

Anyway, it was always fun to see dad coming home from work on his motorcycle, and usually a blast to throw on a helmet and let him take us on a ride on it around the block. Though many might not think much of it, I thought it was the coolest and most beautiful machine I'd ever seen.

As this is a letterbox cache, please leave the stamp and/or inkpad for others to use & enjoy. Thanks!
