Geocache Description:

2019 Update... This cache was named "view gone" as it had a seat that looked at a wall of bushes that hid the view. A few years later the council obviously noticed this and trimmed everything so you could see the view from the seat! The bushes have grown again... but the seat has now gone! It was found sliding down the hillside.

The cache had been rescued and from the seat and put close by. Co-ordinates updated to reflect the new hiding spot... not nearly as good as it was originally, but it lets it live on.

No.1 is a place that once had a view but can no-longer be seen from the viewing point. A nice simple trad to get things started seemed to be in order!

With August being geocaching month, MacPacMum is trying to get as many caches up to scratch as possible - leading to over 300km on "The Maintenance Run" this weekend.

MacPacMum decided to put a few more caches out to make the next maintenance run more worthwhile. All caches on 'the run' were spur of the moment from what was managed to be scavenged from the geomobile's boot.  However MacPacMum has an edict from MacPacSon that he will never cache with her again if she puts out a plain ordinary cache out in a place that doesn't have something special about it.

So in 6oC with a hooded ski jacket, scissors, duct tape, hammer, nails, cable ties, glue, a pile of log books, a series of containers, a bag of 'trade' and debris that any good geomobile collects - various items turned into a series of caches....

Meanwhile MacPacDad offered encouraging noises, snide comments and read his book on his phone and stayed warm in the car - well most of the time.

The MacPacParents traveled from Christchurch to Akaroa, so stopping places were mainly accessible in that direction of travel. As most of the caches have been placed in 'pull in' areas on a State Highway they are not really suitable for GeoKids.

Please place the caches back as found to help in their longevity.
