Geocache Description:

A quick park and grab cache I placed on my birthday to populate this area with geocaches.
Its my 1st hide!

This 4.9 hectare park contains Richie Benaud Oval, named after the successful Australian cricketer and commentator. The park provides a large sporting field, picnic tables, cricket nets and a playground. Off-street parking is available along Bellevue Street.

Richard ('Richie') Benaud grew up in close proximity to this park. He attended Parramatta High and was a keen cricketer, making his debut for New South Wales in 1949. He played 73 matches (1948-1984) for New South Wales in the Sheffield Shield, with 32 as Captain. As a right-arm leg spinner and right-handed batsman, he played 259 matches in first class cricket, scoring 11,719 runs (including 23 centuries and 61 half-centuries) and took 945 wickets and 255 catches.

He is regarded as one of the greatest ever Australian cricketers and is one of only ten Australian cricketers to score 10,000 runs and take 500 wickets in at this level. From 1951 – 1964 he represented Australia in 63 Tests (28 as Captain), scoring 2,201 runs, and taking 248 wickets and 65 catches.
