When my father worked on the railway in the 1960's as a locomotive fireman he used this spur many times to wait for the next train coming in. After serving his time at Immingham he made the journey to London Kings Cross. While at Kings Cross, apart from meeting my mother, he was promoted and during his time there he was the driver of The Flying Scotsman, Mallard and many other legendary steam trains of the day.
