Once a rest stop for Cobb and Co Coaches on the Mungindi to St George route, Thallon was gazetted as a town in 1911 and was named after the then Commisioner for railways, Mr J. F Thallon.
In his diary, Sir Thomas Mitchell made mention of the Thallon district when he was held up by flood waters on a sand ridge on the Moonie river in 1846. A Bloodwood tree where Mitchell carved his initial still stands today.
The cache itself is designed with no room for swaps. A log is included however you will need to bring a pen. Please place it where it is located after signing the log.
