Over the past several months the City of Thousand Oaks has enjoyed engaging citizens in a Geocaching event to celebrate our 50th Anniversary! We hope you enjoyed it and that in the course of your participation you learned something new about the history of Thousand Oaks and perhaps discovered unknown hiking areas or public recreation sites in our beautiful city. For those of you that persevered and found those coveted limited edition coin certificates, congratulations! It is our hope that the special coins created for this event are enjoyed for years to come.
As our anniversary date (October 7th) approaches, we are planning a fun wrap up event that we hope you can attend. The event will be a brief meet and greet followed by several raffles for all attendees. Raffles will include Travel Bugs, geocaching containers and any unclaimed coins (winner must be present) as well as the Grand Prize drawing.
The Grand Prize Oak Log Geocache winner will be drawn from the cards turned in by those who searched for the coin certificates, found one and claimed their coins. Winner need not be present for this drawing but if you are not present you will need to make arrangements to come to City Hall during business hours to claim your prize.
EVERYONE IS WELCOME TO ATTEND THIS EVENT AND WE LOOK FORWARD TO MEETING YOU!
Immediately following this event, the City will be hosting “The Roots of Our Lives” a living time capsule ceremony in the nearby Kavli Theatre from 7:00 pm to 8:00 pm. I hope you were able to attend the 50th Anniversary reception and time capsule ceremony following our geocaching wrap up event. It too had a great turn out with food, fun, and even a parting gift for those attending! HAPPY 50th CITY OF THOUSAND OAKS! :)
