Kaska
Kaska is a young female polar bear at the Assiniboine Park Zoo in Winnipeg, Manitoba. Kaska arrived at our Zoo on November 19, 2013. The Zoo already housed Hudson who arrived early in 2013 and two other bears, Storm and Aurora. When she came, she was estimated to be 11 months old. She joined Aurora, Storm and Hudson when the Journey to Churchill exhibit opened in the summer. Like Aurora, Kaska was an orphan. Kaska did not have the skills that she needed to survive on her own. She is a feisty little thing and a confident little bear. Polar bears are carnivorous. Female polar bears normally weigh between 330-650 pounds. Males usually weigh between 775-1200 pounds.
