Geocache Description:

This is part of Pierpoint's History for kids in the 1930's. This was a local swimming hole in Slab Fork Creek the kids in the area gathered to swim and camp out. My father-in-law had talked about it and how the kids would bring food from home and cook it over a campfire and swim. It had been used from then until about 10 years ago when the Railroad blocked Access to it.

There is a lot of history here the kids of today have never heard about. The Viginian Railway was the first railroad here finished in 1909 and finally merged with the Norfolk and Western in 1959.There is a tunnel there at the old swimming hole.The tunnel and old hole are still there, but don't try to access it. It's too dangerous to get down there and is railroad property. It is Trespassing to go on railroad property and they will take you to jail. I just wanted this to be a small history lesson for here.

It's an easy park and grab between Pierpoint and Otsego going toward Mullens. It's a 1" x 2 1/2" round grey can. Log only BYOP.
