On the 21st October 1994, Pulp Fiction was released in the UK. It is a 1994 American black comedy crime film directed by Quentin Tarantino, who also co-wrote the screenplay with Roger Avary. The film is known for its eclectic dialogue, ironic mix of humor and violence, nonlinear storyline, and a host of cinematic allusions and pop culture references. The film was nominated for seven Oscars, including Best Picture; Tarantino and Avary won for Best Original Screenplay. It was also awarded the Palme d'Or at the 1994 Cannes Film Festival. A major critical and commercial success, it revitalized the career of its leading man, John Travolta, who received an Academy Award nomination, as did co-stars Samuel L. Jackson and Uma Thurman.
To celebrate the 20th anniversary of Pulp Fiction we are holding an event at a local hostelry which will run from 3.30pm to 4.30pm on Sunday 19th October.
We are asking all those who log a 'Will Attend' to consider dressing up as a character from the film. There are a number of interesting characters to choose from including Vincent Vega, Jules Winnfield, Mia Wallace, Marsellus Wallace, Butch Coolidge, Yolanda, Ringo, Zed or The Gimp!
We will ask someone not involved in the event to choose the 'best dressed' person who will then be awarded the FTF.
You do not have to dress up to attend the event nor do you need to purchase anything from the pub. Due to the adult themes in the film and the fact that the event is being held in a pub, the attendance of children is not recommended.
There will be the usual swapping and sharing of trackables and geobanter etc.
