In April 1912 fourteen men and women from Addergoole, in North Mayo, set sail from Queenstown, Cork for a new life in America. Within days, eleven had died in the icy waters of the North Atlantic. Their ship, ‘Titanic’, sank on her maiden voyage.
This beautiful park was opened on Sunday April 15th 2012 to mark the 100th anniversary of that fateful night. Take the time to wander around admiring the sculptures & displays then maybe head for the church where there is a Titanic themed stained glass window.
The Cache:
Cache is a small sample jar size container placed inside the park. It is not hidden in the boundary walls or under any loose stones on any of the exhibits, please do not disturb anything in the park to get it.
When finished, ensure cache is snugly back in its spot & cannot fall out.
