Geocache Description:

Short descrition for all caches in the series

Easy caching along the Chichester Ship Canal which also forms part of the New Lipchis Way.

Please visit http://www.newlipchisway.co.uk/ for more information.

This cache extends the original series placed by Tebbstickles that has been recently be adopted by me (jpitt5).

Simple traditional cache set along the footpath that runs along the Chichester Ship Canal. This footpath is also a part of the New Lipchis Way which starts at Liphook and journeys south until it reaches the sea at West Wittering.

Cache 0.5 (an addition to the original series) guides you from the Canal Basin to the first cache in the series (number 1!). This is a multi-step cache.

Caches 1 to 3 in the series (originally placed by Tebbsticles) will take you from the Canal Basin to Hunston Bridge.

Caches 4 to 7 in the series (extending the original series of three caches) will take you from Hunston bridge to Donnington Bridge. This leg of the series includes one multi-stage cache. You may also want to include 'Church Micro 2830.... St George's Donnington' (GC3PP4E) at the end of this section of the series.

Caches 8 to 14 in the series (extending the original series of three caches) take you from Donnington Bridge to the entrance of Chichester Marina. Please note that there is a very busy road between caches 13 and 14 so please keep children close and take care. This leg of the series also includes a multi-step cache.

Caches 15 to 20 in the series take you from the entrance to Chichester Marina down to, and over, the last lock until you reach the sea.

The path is suitable for walkers, cyclists, pushchairs and Segways have even been seen zipping down here (according to Tebbsticles). The caches are simply placed so you can admire the beauty that still survives amongst a busy city and surrounding areas. You will not need to climb fences or stray from the path to find any of the caches placed. The path past Hunston Bridge gets a little rough in places despite having a compacted surface - I would advise that only pushchairs with hardy wheels continue from this point!

The marina is visitor friendly with a few restaurants and cafes on site if you choose to keep going along the public footpath - particularly good on a hot day!

In the warmer weathers you will find a lot more muggles about, especially the fishing type, but I have placed the caches away from the platforms and seating hopefully making it easier to be stealthy.

Enjoy the walk, and don't get too busy looking around or you'll miss the caches!

Want to get back to Chichester from Chichester Marina?
Upon completing the 'Lipchis Canal Wander' series you may also want to complete 'The Return' series (also placed by me) which takes you partially along the Salterns Way, following coastal footpaths back to Chichester.
