Greenwood Cemetery is located approximately 3 miles SE of the community of Ellsworth in rural Hamilton County. It is in the SE 1/4 of the NE 1/4 of Section 4 in Scott Township. The first records of Greenwood Cemetery that are available are in Norwegian, dated 1892; although there were people buried there before that, and the arch at the driveway says 1881 A.D.  Holden Sexe is believed to be the oldest marked grave, dated 1877.  Previous records may have been lost or destroyed. Tolleff Cragwick, 1820—1900 planted the pine trees bordering the cemetery. On June 10, 1922 , The Greenwood Cemetery Association was formed, with Ed A. Reisetter elected president  and Jesse A. Nelson elected secretary.  On June 30, 1925 the cemetery was purchased  from Trinity Lutheran Church for the consideration of one dollar.  For a time it was known as Trinity Cemetery.
