Geocache Description:

A phobia is defined as a persistent fear of an object or situation to which the suffer goes to great lengths in avoiding. In the event the phobia cannot be avoided entirely, the sufferer will endure the situation or object with marked distress.  It can be used in the context of clinical psychology, a type of anxiety disorder, or in common usage a noted dislike or discomfort of the source of the “phobia.”

This series of caches will test some the more common phobias.  If you have a fear, whether it is of heights, spiders, snakes or maybe even sand (yes there is a fear of sand), if we can figure how make you squirm while caching we will do it.  Hmmm…  squirm???  I wonder if there is a fear of worms?

The series was conceived by Otter, the youngest girl cub in the Clan.  I hope that you enjoy finding them as much we have planning and placing them.

*******The cache in this series may be placed in such a way as to cause some individuals mental distress. Some will involve a certain degree of physical danger to those retrieving the container. Please use caution and common sense when hunting these or any caches.*******

Claustrophobia (from Latin claustrum "a shut in place”) is the fear of having no escape, of being ‘boxed in,’ or simply the fear of tight places. Studies indicate that about 5–7% of the world population is affected by severe claustrophobia. Many more suffer from a lesser form of claustrophobia.

A typical claustrophobic will fear restriction in at least one, if not several, of the following areas: small rooms, locked rooms, cars, airplanes, trains, tunnels, cellars, elevators, and caves. Additionally, the fear of restriction can cause some claustrophobics to fear trivial matters such as sitting in a haircutter’s chair or waiting in line at a grocery store simply out of a fear of confinement to a single space.

Often, when confined to an area, claustrophobics begin to fear suffocation, believing that there may be a lack of air in the area to which they are confined.  Many claustrophobics remove clothing during attacks, believing it will relieve the symptoms. Any combination of the above symptoms can lead to severe panic attacks. However, most claustrophobics do everything in their power to avoid these situations, to include avoiding the location of this cache.
