Geocache Description:


The Winter Solstice is the shortest day of the year and the official beginning of winter. The Winter Solstice happens when the sun reaches its furthest south point on its apparent path on the ecliptic. From now on the days will be getting longer. The Winter Solstice occurs Sunday, December 21, 2014 at 23:03 UTC. That's 6:03 PM Eastern time .
The cache is in a black plastic Lock-n-Lock box. This cache will remain in place until the Vernal Equinox which takes place on March 20, 2015 6:45 PM EDT*.
This cache is located within Oakwoods Metropark, a part of the Huron-Clinton Metropolitan Authority park system. A Metropark Vehicle Entry Permit is required: Annual Permit $30. Senior (62+) Permit $20. Daily Permit $7.
