Geocache Description:

A cache near Dynamite Cabin in Mueller State Park.

Located in Mueller State Park a few feet off Dynamite Cabin trail (trail # 32), approximately 1.8 mi round trip from Grouse Mountain trail head with a 200 ft Elevation Loss/Gain.  As you search for this cache, the trail descends and twists through tree trunks, and if you look close you will see the ruins of Dynamite Cabin on your left, set back in the trees.  Use caution around the precarious timbers of the old cabin.  This cabin was used in the late 1800’s as temporary shelter for hunters and trappers.  When the Mueller family owned this land, they found a box of dynamite hidden in the cabin, thus the name Dynamite Cabin.

The cache name was derived from the cabin name and there is no danger in the area. The cache is not hidden in the cabin ruins.

Day use fee or Colorado state park pass required.

Placed by permission of Mueller State Park; please be respectful of all surroundings. Stay on trails as much as possible, avoid creating social trails.

All trails are open to hiking, snowshoeing, and cross-country skiing.  The trail map available from the Mueller State Park web site shows which trails are open to biking and horseback riding.

Geocaching Responsibly

A great rule of thumb is to leave any caching location in better condition than when you arrived. Observe posted signs, stay on designated trails, do not trespass onto private property, and even pick up any litter you find along the way.

Always make sure to observe safe hiking practices when geocaching, be mindful of your hiking experience and limits.  The most important thing is to get outside and safely have fun!

Practice "Cache In Trash Out®"
