Hupp's Hill Historic Park & Museum Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

Lady Nomad: I am no longer geocaching, although It’s been amazing that it’s been discovered repeatedly for 10 years! It recently disappeared and the county asked me to archive it, so they may put a permanent one inside the museum.

Geocache Description:

NOTE: 4/23/18 - I would really like to thank everyone that has visited this cache in the past 4 years. We've received 266 visitors and it still pops up in my logs every now and then. Thank you for maintaining it.

Hupp's Hill Historic Park and Battle of Cedar Creek Museum is located near Strasburg. This geocache is being planted at a very pretty park with a very ugly history. We discovered it by accident when we got off Interstate 81 to see some of the countryside. We couldn't believe there wasn't a cache here, so we placed one while we were on a road-trip from Florida to Pennsylvania. (Note 4/22/18 - I believe the title of the park was changed to include "Cedar Creek", which is a nod to the Cedar Creek Battlefield and Foundation nearby.)

This park is quiet and has peaceful picnic areas. It's a great place for a stretch break. There is a walking trail system in the park right across from the museum/visitor center. You can follow the trail, and there are information boards posted along the trail to tell the history of the area.

This is a small, round micro tin. It COULD be a quick P&G, but hopefully you'll go inside and have a look around. Souvenirs are more than reasonable and there are some area history items, and local arts and crafts.

We spent some time talking to Betty, the very sweet lady inside the visitor center and told her about geocaching. This cache is placed with her permission, and even if you don't have time to do the whole museum, let her know you're a geocacher and sign the visitor's log book. She would love to meet you. We're really hoping cachers might bring her a few more visitors. (by the way, it is open seven days a week)

Congrats to TeddyBear57 for FTF!

This is an easy one. Please be sure to seal the bag back up to keep it water-tight as long as possible.Obviously, we won't be in that area again for a long time, so PLEASE if the cache is in bad shape, we'd appreciate you help to keep it going. They also have Civil War reenactments at the battlefield nearby, if you're interesting. Happy hunting and enjoy this relaxing break!
