A plan had been hatched that myself and a caching buddy would make a raid over the hill and into the Wairarapa to pick up as many caches as we possible could in 24 hours.
The roadie ended up lasting 32 hours in which we only had an hour's sleep and a short break for an evening meal. We started at 8.53am in Featherston, went as far north as Pahiatua and then headed back down, ending our 24 hours at 8.50am somewhere on a back road near Masterton.
The totals were as follows: 142 finds, 8 DNFs in 24 hours and 160 finds, 14 DNFs in 32 hours.
My favourite memory would have to have been checking out a tap on the side of a hall that looked suspiciously like a very clever bit of urban camo. After twisting the tap - no luck, pulling the tap, no luck and standing scratching my head for a bit, I finally decided to check to see if the tap actually worked (whilst looking up it) - it worked rather well!
During our trip, we discussed how awesome it would be to hear about anyone else that has made a similar raid on caches. A plan was hatched to create a challenge cache to mark the occasion.
