Geocache Description:

OBS! Falska koordinater / False coordinates!

"Unbelievable, that old Biff could have chosen that particular date. It could mean that that point in time inherently contains some sort of cosmic significance. Almost as if it were the temporal junction point for the entire space-time continuum. On the other hand, it could just be an amazing coincidence."

Andra ledtråden
"...that's completely out of the question, you must not leave this house. You must not see anybody or talk to anybody. Anything you do could have serious reprocautions on future events."

Hollywood har haft sin beskärda del av Don Juans men Alfred Hitchcock tycks inte ha varit en av dem eftersom han från 1927 fram till sin död 1980 var han gift med Alma Reville. Om henne ska han ha sagt;
"I beg permission to mention by name only four people who have given me the most affection, appreciation, and encouragement, and constant collaboration. The first of the four is a film editor, the second is a scriptwriter, the third is the mother of my daughter Pat, and the fourth is as fine a cook as ever performed miracles in a domestic kitchen and their names are Alma Reville".

To be able to get lost in the world of movies for one or a couple of hours can be fun, relaxing, frightening, exciting, frustrating or dramatic. Even all of the mentioned at once and this cache is a small tribute to the escape from reality that movies can be.

What can symbolize movies and movie stars more than Hollywood? At the beginning of motion picture history it was New York rather than Hollywood that was the centre of movie-making. Partly due to royalty fees brought on by the patents of Thomas Edison many companies moved to the west coast and Hollywood. The first movie recorded there was the 17 minute long In Old California (1910). A little different compared to the modern time movies that sometimes will last for over three hours.

When talking pictures, "talkies", made it's entrance 1927-28 the so called golden age of Hollywood started. As few as eight studios (Leow's/MGM, Paramount, Fox, Warner Bros, RKO, Universal, Columbia and United Artists) totally dominated the market with a total cut of 96% of the market in 1939.

The famous Hollywood Walk Of Fame came in 1958 but it wasn't until 1960 that Joanne Woodward as the first person got her star. Today there are 2347 stars to be seen on this famous street.

If Hollywood is the largest symbol for the movie industry, the Hollywood sign is definitely the largest symbol for the town itself. The sign with the original text Hollywoodland, were erected in 1923 but were changed to Hollywood when being renovated in 1949.

Today only Paramount of the original large companies still has it's address in "the real" Hollywood.

We've made a list of some of our favourite quotes and hope that it will be something you to work with during spare time.

Once you're writing your log you're more than welcome to share which your favorite movie is and maybe even if you have a favorite quote.

Good Luck!

First hint
"Unbelievable, that old Biff could have chosen that particular date. It could mean that that point in time inherently contains some sort of cosmic significance. Almost as if it were the temporal junction point for the entire space-time continuum. On the other hand, it could just be an amazing coincidence."

Second hint
"...that's completely out of the question, you must not leave this house. You must not see anybody or talk to anybody. Anything you do could have serious reprocautions on future events."

Third hint
Today is the one year anniversary of the cache and even though we always counted on it taking a long time to sole, we never intended it to remain unsolved. Some things has been updated so clear your browsers cache(!) and give it another go. Good luck!

Forth hint
Well, I was going to release a hint much earlier but since eliwe didn't want me to, I waited just a little bit longer... ;) Someone asked me about the checker and it is there for checking the real coordinates - no fake ones.

Fifth hint
Maybe Alfred can assist you in some way?

Sixth hint
Hollywood has had its fair share of Don Juans but Alfred Hitchcock doesn't seem to have been one of them since he from 1927 up to his death in 1980 was married to Alma Reville. About her he is supposed to have said;
"I beg permission to mention by name only four people who have given me the most affection, appreciation, and encouragement, and constant collaboration. The first of the four is a film editor, the second is a scriptwriter, the third is the mother of my daughter Pat, and the fourth is as fine a cook as ever performed miracles in a domestic kitchen and their names are Alma Reville".
