Geocache Description:

This would make a good cache and dash, or alternatively part of a wildlife-walk within this built up area.
There are several other caches nearby, making it ideal as part of a circular walk.

This is a small screw-top plastic tub, big enough for small swaps and trackables. Moved slightly 23/02/2021 and again 05/03/22.

"There used to be many nurseries to serve the population. … They delivered their goods by horse and cart then later by motorcycle. Mr. Turner and his son Bill …bought Uppleby House from Elizabeth Uppleby and started the business on 150 acres of the surrounding land.

A History of  Upper Parkstone, Patricia M Wilnecker

In the heart of Upper Parkstone lies a field of brambles, nettles and possibilities. It was purchased by the Council in 1982, to be used 'for Educational Purposes' and it was left to go wild.

Now, the bramble patch at Turner’s Nursery has been opened up for use by the community and protected from over-development. Volunteers have been working on the site for a couple of years and it is beginning to take shape.

The vision is for a community orchard with fruit and nut trees, medicinal herbs, a wildlife pond, a community vegetable garden, spaces to rest and for children and adults to learn, play and explore.

Wessex Water have built a major new sewer through bottom of the site, which entailed clearing several large trees, so there has been a new set of factors to contend with.

In partnership withe the Borough of Poole, Turner’s Nursery will continue to be a wildlife haven, a place for people to learn about nature and also a source of fresh and free food for future generations of Poole residents.
