Geocache Description:

Do you have the courage to join with the Rebellion cause and fight? Meet and interact with the characters, and experience Episode IV: A New Hope through pictures and sounds. Part of the Star Wars Wherigo Series.

The most efficient way to complete this Series:
1. Play the cartridges of Star Wars #1 - #8 first (save the coords but do not seek the finals yet).
2. Then start playing #9, because as you travel with R2D2 you will pass by the finals of #1 - #8.

Summary:

The cache is NOT at the posted coordinates. Also it does NOT start at the posted coordinates. Park at  N 43 47.290 W 88 25.010. Begin the Cartridge at either Parking or at Start waypoint: N 43 47.351 W 88 24.841.
You must find the physical container and sign the logbook to get credit for this geocache. Also, please do NOT post spoilers in your online log(s).

To access the UW FdL Campus: From I-41 turn East onto Johnson Street (Hwy 23), turn left on University Drive, then left on Campus Drive.
The faculty of the UW Fond du Lac and the Gottfried Arboretum encourage the public to visit and use the grounds of the Campus. They have expressed that they wish more people would enjoy this area that they so carefully tend and maintain. Please be respectful of property and landscaping so this beautiful playground remains a public treasure.

All content and terrain are kid friendly, yet children will require some adult help.
Once you successfully complete the Cartridge - it will give you a Completion Code. You can use that code to unlock the Cartridge on the Wherigo website.

Wherigo information:

If you would happen to miss any information within a Zone or have trouble "finding" it: Exit the Zone and then re-enter it. Be patient and wait for your GPS to "catch up" with your location.

iOS users: hitting the home button (during play) will cause sounds to stop playing. To re-enable sounds: Quit cartridge (which saves it) and then Resume playing (where you left off).
Android users: If the Cartridge does not appear in the WhereYouGo App: Go to My Files> Downloads> Checkmark the File> Tap Options (3 dots)> Select Move> Find the WhereYouGo Folder> Select Move To.

It is highly recommended to use a Pocket PC, Smartphone, or Tablet to play this Cartridge. The integrated custom sounds greatly enhance the player experience!

This is a special type of geocache called a Wherigo, a GPS-enabled application that allows you to play interactive games, tours and other experiences in the real world. You need to download the cartridge, and it requires a compatible device to play. Will it work on my regular GPS? No, sorry. Try to make friends with someone who has a compatible device.

Can I use my Smartphone or Tablet? Yes! if it's GPS enabled. Both iOS and Android can play Wherigo cartridges with an appropriate App. The iOS app is called WhereIGo and the Android app is WhereYouGo.

Can I use my Wifi-only device? Yes! if it's GPS enabled, pre-loaded, and you avoid using online maps. Wherigo cartridges do not require data usage while playing in the field (except online maps). You can play a Wherigo with a Wifi-only device if:
1. An appropriate App is previously downloaded
2. The cartridge is previously downloaded
3. Use the App "compass"or "arrow and distance" (or offline map) to navigate.

To download the Cartridge: Click the Related Web Page link above. Or go to www.wherigo.com/cartridge/, then type zipcode 54935 into the search box, next scroll to find Star Wars #9: R2D2 A New Hope, and finally download the appropriate format for your device (for smartphones/tablets use Pocket PC format).

How do I log this cache? The goal of this Wherigo is the same as any geocache: to sign the logbook in the physical cache. Logging your results on geocaching.com is the same as any other cache. Also, on wherigo.com you can write a log and review for this cartridge.

Once you successfully complete the Cartridge - it will give you a Completion Code.
Unlocking the cartridge on Whereigo.com is not required, but it would be greatly appreciated. After you've completed the cartridge you should see a "Star Wars #9: R2D2 A New Hope.gws" file on your device. You can upload this file to Wherigo.com and it will "Unlock" it, giving you full credit for completing the cartridge. It will also help keep track the number of completions for this cartridge. You can also "Unlock" it by entering the Completion Code. Again not required, but I would really appreciate it if you did.

If you enjoyed this Wherigo and wish to encourage me to create more, throw me a bone with a Favorite Point.

Tips and Duration:

If you walk, allow at least an hour to finish this cartridge. This includes extra time to enjoy the beauty of the Parks.

Cartridges running on a Smartphone/ Tablet/ Pocket PC: While playing, the game will save itself automatically. When exiting the App: click on Quit to save your game progress.
Cartridges running on a GPS: SAVE YOUR GAME OFTEN! When you are playing this game, I recommend saving your progress frequently, such as after the completion of every task. This will help avoid frustration when your player crashes, which it might - GPSs seem to still have bugs to work out. (My experience with Garmin: the game saved itself, even when the device was unintentionally turned off.)

Thanks to The Brauns for your Star Wars knowledge and help with the audio content.

Please do NOT post spoilers in your log.
This Cartridge has been tested with iOS.
