Coldstream Park played host to a Ohio Valley Cyclocross series race for the first time in 2014. This cache is along the course.
What is Cyclocross? Cyclocross is a form of bike race that started out as a means for road bike racers to stay in shape over the winter, Sept to Feb. The races are on short closed loop circuits, 1-2miles long, done on modified road bikes. The courses can be on just about any terrain; Gravel, Grass, Pavement, Sand, Snow, Mud etc. and will contain obstacles that will require the rider to dismount and remount; Logs Stairs and other barriers. Races are 30-60 minutes long. This makes the races effectively a sprint with the rider's heart rates near their maximum for most of the race.
Due to the nature of the circuits, cyclocross lends itself to spectators. Normally you can see most of the course from one spot. Heckling it encouraged as long as its is good taste, example "Your riding too fast. Your making the race boring." Did I mention cow bells, there is never enough cow bell.
