Go Ahead, Find My Cache Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

Sapience Trek: Greetings!

Per request of park management I am archiving all caches in the park that have expired permits. As you know a permit in a New York State park is good for 2 years.

Please pick up the cache as soon as possible to prevent it from becoming geotrash.

Thanks for your contributions to the game!

Geocache Description:

The cache is a mini decon container covered with camo-tape.

Clinton "Clint" Eastwood, Jr. is an American actor, film director, producer and composer. He rose to international fame with his role as the Man with No Name in Sergio Leone's "Dollars Trilogy" of spaghetti Westerns during the 1960s (Fistful of Dollars, For a Few Dollars More, and The Good, the Bad and the Ugly), and as Harry Callahan in the five "Dirty Harry" films throughout the 1970s and 1980s. These roles, among others, have made him an enduring cultural icon of masculinity. Dirty Harry, released in 1971, centers around a hard-edged New York City (later changed to San Francisco) police inspector named Harry Callahan who is determined to stop a psychotic killer by any means. Dirty Harry has been described as being arguably Eastwood's most memorable character, and the film has been credited with inventing the "loose-cannon cop" genre. His movie lines (e.g., "You've got to ask yourself one question: ‘Do I feel lucky?’ Well, do you, punk?") have been cited as among the most memorable in cinematic history. Eastwood directed and starred in the fourth "Dirty Harry" film, Sudden Impact, released in 1983 and considered the darkest and most violent of the series. The line "Go ahead, make my day" (uttered by Eastwood during an early scene in a coffee shop) is often cited as one of cinema's immortal lines. In fact, it was quoted by President Ronald Reagan in a speech to Congress, and used by Reagan during his 1984 re-election campaign.

The Eastwood Meadows Trail is a 4.0-mile looping hiking trail that starts and ends near where ASP Route 1 intersects with Bay State Road and France Brook Road. Park in the small parking area across the road from the trailhead on ASP Route 1 (N 42° 03.297 W 078° 45.912). The cache is hidden at the far end of the looping Eastwood Meadows Trail, which was not named after Clint Eastwood. After setting out onto the trial from the trailhead sign on the road and hiking into the woods, be sure to take the left at the fork where you find the Eastwood Meadows Trail sign N 42° 03.397 W 078° 46.396).

The Allegany State Park Region of the New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation (OPRHP) is a primary source of outdoor recreation opportunities in Western New York. Included in the Allegany Region is the largest park in New York’s State Park System, 65,000-acre Allegany State Park. Since its acquisition in 1921, Allegany State Park (ASP) has been the major provider of recreational opportunities in the region, especially the trail-related activities of hiking, horseback riding, snowmobiling, cross country skiing, bicycling, snowshoeing, and nature interpretation. Approximately 1.9 million people visit Allegany State Park annually to use its resources and facilities.

Please note that ASP charges an admission fee from Memorial Day until Labor Day.

Congratulations to Cayuga Crew on FTF!

The cache has been placed with permission of the OPRHP (ASP Permit No. ALL342).
