Geocache Description:

A second cache at the Assaroe Abbey site that can be found in conjunction with GC5CGP1 Watching the Wheels.

Catesby's Cave is on the site of the early Christian Assaroe Abbey and was used as a Mass rock during penal times.  There are numerous such Mass rocks throughout Ireland, sites where the Catholic mass was said in secret during the times when it was illegal to do so in public.  There is usually some connection with the local parish church, such as floor slabs being used as alters and there are numerous accounts of the priests holding such masses being executed, sometimes on the mass rock itself.

The cache is a small film cannister with a cache label hidden at the back of the rock.  I used to make it harder to find as the previous silver one disappeared, so please be sure to hide it well.
