Geocache Description:

Located on the skyline ridge when viewed either from Ogden or from Snow Basin, this cache is placed on Floyd Iverson Ridge as a further memorial to a great forester, land manager, and conservationist.  After two years of effort by a small group of then-current and retired Forest Service Officers the Board of Geographic Names approved the name for this geographic feature which is a great tribute to the man.

A small group assembled near this cache location in August, 2005 for a dediction ceremony.  Floyd Iverson had a long and distiguished career with the U. S. Forest Service.  Locally he was Regional Forester (from 1958 to 1970) for the Intermountain Region which includes the National Forests in Utah, Nevada, Western Wyoming, Idaho south of the Salmon River, and a small section in California and Colorado.  As such he was in charge of all management activities on these 31 million acres.,

The cache container is a metal ammo box filled with a Monterey Pine cone, an Engelmann Spruce cone, a piece of petrified wood, and a lot of Smokey Bear stuff, including a pair of shoe laces, 2014 calander, tags and buttons, luggage ID holder, pencils and a log book.  For the FIRST TO FIND is a Gerber Folding Knife.

The cache is located at 9288 feet elevation.  Access is by trail across National Forest land, either from trailheads on the east edge of Ogden, or from Snow Basin trailheads. On occasion one might catch a ride on a chair lift and walk or ski across country.
